Can AI Help Tell Stories Without Becoming the Main Character?
I've been in an investigative phase lately. Not building, just exploring. I want to see what AI is actually capable of when it comes to storytelling.
The goal isn't to replace writers or automate creativity. It's to see if AI can help people tell stories they might not have had the time, skill, or confidence to tell on their own.
What I'm testing
I'm looking at how far AI can support the creative process without taking over. Can it help with structure? Can it suggest visual styles that match tone? Can it adapt to a writer's voice instead of forcing its own?
I've been testing different models and prompt patterns to see where they hold up and where they fall apart. Right now, AI seems decent at keeping a consistent tone, but not great at balancing emotion and logic. It can shape a story, but it still struggles to feel one.
The real question for me is whether it can make storytelling less intimidating for people who have ideas but don't know where to start.
Why explore first
It's easy to start building before understanding what’s actually possible. Taking time to explore helps me find the edges, what works, what doesn’t, and what’s worth solving.
This ties back to how I think about systems. Before I design anything, I want to understand the system itself, in this case, the creative process. Once you know where the edges are, it’s easier to build something that fits inside them.
I’ll keep testing, taking notes, and seeing where it leads.
